Luisa Lambri’s work focuses mainly on photography, and is characterized by a reflection on the human conditions and the relationship with space, building on themes such as feminism, identity, history, and the politics of representation. Her pieces live in “an unprecedented space between abstract photography and the architectural exploration of the space”.

Photographer of light and architecture, Luisa Lambri captures fragments of existing buildings: reality’s imprints that explore spaces through unique glimpses, capable of restoring not so much the features of an environment, rather than the perceptions and the sensations of an experience lived within it. Sideways glances, reflections and refractions characterize Lambri’s images, which revisit the formal language of modernism, seeking a both critical-interpretative and aesthetic operation. The photographer herself says: “there is no correlation between the buildings’ function and my images, I try to convey a state of mind […], architecture interests me just because I inhabit it, each time in a different way, from an original point of view and for the chance to transform it into something else […]. It is like imagining an architecture in potency, or declining the cases of a sentimental grammar inscribed in each building” (34 questions about memory and senses, from Luisa Lambri, 2001, exhibition catalogue).
