Appendice IX - Il contributo italiano alla storia del pensiero – Musica e Letteratura

L'Enciclopedia Italiana di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti (The Italian Encyclopaedia of Sciences, Literature and Arts) is enriched in Appendix IX, with two new titles. Two prestigious volumes are placed in the ninth Appendix, which complete and update the work, composed of authoritative contributions and rich iconographic examples, with elegant insights and analyses, dedicated to Music and Literature. The volume on Music traces many paths, offering different points of view from which to observe, rethink or approach and learn about the history and life of music in Italy, and from Italy to Europe and the world, from its origins down to today. In these pages thematic essays alternate with biographical essays on great musicians, thus offering invitations to discover or rediscover authors, music, stories and emotions: in the end, they’re above all an invitation to listen. The volume on Literature proposes a series of essays dedicated to both individual authors and to wider thematic essays. Following the entire historical path of Italian literature, they highlight varied and contradictory comparisons with the literary horizons of Europe and worldwide, and underline Italy’s contribution to literary expression, and its importance over the centuries in the evolution of a modern civil identity. Both volumes are accompanied by a rich iconography that offers suggestive transversal thematic paths.
