Quadriennale d'Arte 2020. Fuori is a volume that, in addition to giving testimony of the artists on display and the exhibition project of the Quadriennale d'Arte 2020, aims to outline new perspectives and methods of investigation on art contemporary Italian. Bilingual volume, Italian and English, it is designed to incorporate the experimental nature of the exhibition and of the work carried out in the last three years by the Rome Quadriennale in support of Italian art, addressing the visitors of the exhibition, the community of scholars, and art students. contemporary, to artists and experts in the sector.
The volume consists of an introductory photographic section that traces the most emblematic events of the 10s of the 21st century, and of three macro-sections. The first is dedicated to the exhibition, curated by Sarah Cosulich and Stefano Collicelli Cagol, whose essays written for the occasion aim to deepen the lines of research developed for the creation of the exhibition project. This is followed by the interventions by Alessandro Bava, architect who was entrusted with the installation project, by Luca Scarlini, writer, curator and, on this occasion, storyteller of the Quadriennale and its Archive Library, and by Michele Bertolino and Matteo Binci, assistant curators. of the exhibition. Four pages of images and materials relating to their project on display or, more generally, to their artistic path, are dedicated to each invited artist, introduced by a short text from the curatorial department.
The second section collects five essays commissioned to art historians - Giorgina Bertolino, Stefano Chiodi, Silvia Fanti with Daniele Gasparinetti, Francesco Ventrella, Riccardo Venturi - which propose themes and new methodologies for reading contemporary Italian art today. To these is added the Italian translation of an essay by Camilla Hawthorne. The third and last section is dedicated to an in-depth study of the topics addressed in the six Q-Rated workshops held in the two-year period 2018-2019; entrusted in the seminar days to foreign artists and curators, on this occasion the same themes are analyzed by young Italian critics and artists: Dafne Boggeri, Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, Michele D’Aurizio, Vincenzo Estremo, Lorenzo Pezzani and Sofia Silva.
