At the same time, a strong wind of rebirth and renewal was felt in every area, including the world of cinema. An angry radical gesture of rupture was needed, and was duly delivered by the so-called “young Turks”, critics influenced by André Bazin, a founder of the famed film magazine “Cahiers du Cinéma”.
