Baruchello’s Psycho-encyclopaedia has been inspired by the Grande Treccani Encyclopedia, imitating its format, layout and structure for alphabetically ordered entries. The artist radically reinterprets and subverts its language, thus questioning the very identity of the encyclopaedia, creatively modifying the significance and value of this traditional publishing enterprise. As he suggests with his title, in particular by using the heretical term "possible", Baruchello questions the concept of encyclopaedic knowledge. At the same time, the "psycho" prefix invokes the subjectivity of human mental activity, and its ability to metabolise information and produce new content.
