Born from a collaboration between Bruno Danese and Jacqueline Vodoz, and initially with the participation of Franco Meneguzzo, Danese Milano has always focused on projects that could combine cultural and industrial elements, with the brilliant intuition that art should not be confined to the places designated for it, but should become part of everyday life. With regard to its products, the company’s early days on the market, up until 1969, are linked to two mainstays, Enzo Mari and Bruno Munari, who envision design objects suitable for decorating domestic or work environments with style: some of the iconic creations of these years include the Formosa (1963) and Timor (1976) perpetual calendars by Mari or the Canarie desk set (1958) and the Hexagonal lamp (1959) by Munari.
In the 1970s, with the arrival of Angelo Mangiarotti, Danese Milano began to expand its business internationally by participating in trade fairs and travelling exhibitions where its products were presented as true works of art with a creative and flamboyant character. After the challenging 1980s, marked by the pivotal presence of Achille Castiglioni, in the late 1990s, with the arrival of Carlotta De Bevilacqua at the helm, the business begins to thrive. During this period, Danese Milano starts paying greater attention to environmental sustainability and collaborating with important names in the field of international design, regarded as necessary to influence and increase Danese Milano’s long-standing production.
The company attracts various personalities that stand out for their innovative and versatile creativity, such as James Irvine, Paolo Rizzato, Marco Ferreri and new voices such as Francisco Gomez Paz and Naoto Fukasawa. For more than 50 years, Danese Milano has been committed to the mission of creating products for domestic and work environments that stand out for their strong character and are in line with contemporary trends. These days, it still finds new interpretations, thanks to an ever-present connection with the products that have shaped the history of this internationally renowned company and of what it is still able to create under the artistic direction of Giulio Iacchetti, offering a range of products inspired by the past and present while keeping an eye on the future.
