From the fruitful encounter between the creative mind of the famous architect Ettore Sottsass and the all-Italian know-how of the Manifattura Bitossi Ceramiche, a series of products destined to leave their mark appeared in the 1950s. This corpus of extraordinary objects, which lit up the history of Italian design, stood out for its extreme quality of high craftsmanship: Bitossi ceramics was always committed to carrying on the family tradition of master potters, while also knowing how to be open to novelty in contemporary design. For this vase, Ettore Sottsass created another step motif composition, with a sober and essential style, using traditional hand lathe work in white clay. To underline this geometric object’s elegantly sensual lines, the designer embellished it with an opaque white and green enamel decoration.
