One of the most important Italian artists of Arte Povera, Anselmo made his debut in the second half of the 1960s.
Working in thematic cycles, he focused on opposing phenomena and concepts (finite and infinite, visible and invisible, life and death) and on the relationship between man and nature. The limited edition work Particolare bears a double date: 2019 and 1972, the year in which, for the first time, the word was made visible through the light of a projector, giving rise to one of the artist's best-known cycles.

Giovanni Anselmo was born in Borgofranco d'Ivrea in 1934. After completing his classical studies, he began, as a self-taught, to experiment with traditional drawing and painting and to work as a graphic designer at the same time. He was one of the artists brought together by the critic Germano Celant under the name of Arte Povera.
