The subject chosen by Perrone is a snapshot that reproduces the 3D reconstruction of the back of the knee of a bodybuilder. Cut out and completely isolated from the rest of the body, it transforms into an abstract element, floating in a flat and atmospheric space whose light describes volumes and surfaces that are only apparently human, more similar to the detail of a sculpture. The artist considers this subject as a component of an articulated process of layering and repetition, a modular image that can be replicated indefinitely. The shape chosen by Perrone, therefore, reflects and makes manifest the principle of reproducibility, at the basis of printing techniques.

Diego Perrone (b. Asti 1970) lives and works in Asti, Milan and Berlin. It uses a wide range of techniques and languages, from photography, to drawing, to glass processing, creating an interesting combination between the use of classical procedures and conceptual art. I thinkers of holes (2002) is among the first works that highlight its poetics: an attempt to perceive the void through a series of shots of seven holes of different diameters, dug deep into the ground.
