Finis Terrae is a superlative artist's notebook created by the Alma Charta atelier using unpublished text by the Rome-born poetess Anna Cascella Luciani. On eight finely hand-sewn pages, the words of the author in Italian, composed in movable type Antiqua Diethelm and printed by Josef Weiss, accompany the etching on copper by André Beuchat printed by hand using an old star wheel printing press, creating an artefact of extraordinary elegance. A perfect correspondence emerges between the engraver’s highly detailed landscape and the verses of Anna Cascella Luciani, enhanced by the typographic composition and the care devoted to fine finishing. The edition, presented in the Quaderni dell’alba series, is available in a single edition of forty copies signed by André Beuchat, and a further ten on Hahnemühle paper.
