Claude Lévi-Strauss's anthropological project exerted an extraordinary influence on the culture of the twentieth century, and established itself as a milestone in the historical journey of human knowledge. It was based an incredible breadth of horizons, a deep erudition, a rare ability to weave connections between the most diverse disciplines and theoretical and philosophical implications. Last but not least, he wrote extraordinarily well, far removed from ethnographic descriptivism, something not to be taken for granted among authors of academic essays.
