The Treccani Art Editions have been enriched with a fascinating new gem, namely the 'artist's book’ dedicated to the Tarot. A newly published and original work that combines – as always happens for every Treccani edition – the authority of its critical contributions with the richness of its iconographic impact. In addition, here scientific analysis is also combined with the splendour of words, in their noblest form... namely poetry.
The privileged relationship that has always linked language with symbolic images, typical of Tarot and sapiential games in general, in this work finds an ideal dimension which owes its success to the synergistic contribution of two artists of vivid imagination: Aldo Nove and Mimmo Paladino.
Twenty-two poems composed by Aldo Nove which he describes as "Meanings in verse". These explain the hidden world behind Tarot cards and their enchantment, which are made visible by Mimmo Paladino, who has masterfully illustrated and interpreted the poems, by creating an image for each poem, in large formats.
The meeting between the two artists then releases that magical dimension and is charged with those symbolic, arcane and imaginative values hidden inside the deck of cards.

The volume is enriched by various important critical contributions: with in introduction by Stefano Bartezzaghi, I Tarocchi, dal gioco alle storie, (The Tarot, from game to stories), an essay by Lina Bolzoni on Literature and game between Boiardo and Calvino, and another by Nove who, in addition to the collection of poems, provides the work with a reflection on sacrality, archetypes and games. For a history of the Tarot, in which he provides a sort of 'guide to reading' the poems themselves, and, finally, that of Giorgio Bacci, The Hand and The Mask: the Tarot according to Mimmo Paladino, who analyses and interprets the artist's work.
