Exhibition catalogue, organised by G. Celant
For the Emilio Isgrò personal exhibition held in Venice in the spaces of the Napoleonic Wing of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, Treccani publishes a monograph by Germano Celant, who also curated the Venetian exhibition. The volume documents the creative achievements of the artist who, from 1962 until today, has engaged with the parallel disciplines of poetry, art, theatre and literature. The book opens with a conversation between Celant and Isgrò, which took place in Milan in July 2019. It continues with a "Chronology" that starts from 1937, the artist’s year of birth: the story of the major events of Isgrò's life and creations is told year by year, as the chronology of his collective and personal exhibitions intertwines with references to significant artistic and historical events. The text is enriched by a careful selection of images that includes works, invitations, catalogues, exhibition posters, views of the artist's exhibitions and portraits, as well as an unpublished work: a text cancelling operation on Melville's Moby Dick.
